12th February 2005
Windsurfing: Lee on Solent
Wind Direction: NW
Wind Stength: F7
Surf / Sea State: Choppy
Air Temperature: ok
Sea Temperature: ok
Weather: Sunny
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

I was at Monks Hill and it was absolutely howling!! No gusts, just full bore side shore shore 30 mph wind. Slightest wind shadow on the inside made it manageable for the gybe (just) and I was on a 4.0m. Further out it was lifting me off the water involuntarily. SUPERB! It was bright sunshine pretty much all the time I was out, with a massive rainbow over the land for a while and little round rainbows in the 10 foot spray whipped behind your board. On the downside, there was no hint of a wave and a lot of clattery chop. The swell was rolling in the wind's direction so jumping was not easy, but a few turns and whacks were possible. At times it was uncontrollable speed sailing, spinning out explosions, the works.

February in a NW should be freezing, but it wasnt really that bad. it was actually pretty mild and I sailed bare foot for an hour or so. No problem, no burning fingers or toes at all.
